When the Rev. Steve Mattson became pastor of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in February, he began seeking ways to encourage parish members in their faith. He added another young pastor to serve the youth. To prepare hearts for Christmas, he will lead an Advent Mission at the church from December 14-17. The services at 7 p.m. will follow the theme "Called to Holiness, Called to Mission, Living as Catholics Today."

SWARTZ CREEK, Michigan -- The Rev. Kevin Lixey spends his days in Catholicism's holiest place, The Vatican. He has rubbed elbows with two popes and is organizing a series of marathons that retrace the journey of St. Paul through Asia Minor 2,000 years ago. Not bad for a guy from Swartz Creek....
